Over the next 12 months, these young entrepreneurs will undergo an intense and comprehensive entrepreneurial incubation program designed to hone their skills, expand their knowledge, and prepare them for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. This program is not just about learning business tactics; it’s about molding leaders who will drive innovation, create jobs, and contribute to the growth and development of Nigeria’s economy.

The event was not just a celebration of the inductees but also a gathering of like-minded individuals and organizations committed to supporting the next generation of Nigerian entrepreneurs. As human beings, we must continue to democratize access to education and learning in Africa, ensuring that every individual has the opportunity to acquire the knowledge and skills needed to transform their lives and communities. The image of students sitting on the floor of overcrowded classrooms, struggling to learn in challenging conditions, is all too familiar across Africa. Fortunately, these young ladies at PPIZ have the choice to sit on the floor, with chairs available behind them, but many others across the continent do not have such a luxury. They are forced to learn in dire conditions, often without basic educational resources or infrastructure.

We can no longer afford to wait for governments to address these issues. The time for action is now, and we have the power to make a difference. By supporting organizations that are actively working to solve problems in education and learning, such as Teach For Nigeria, EduGrant Nigeria, Softcom, and many others, we can help create a brighter future for the next generation. These organizations are dedicated to providing innovative solutions that improve access to quality education, equip students with the skills they need to succeed, and empower educators to deliver impactful lessons.

The young ladies I met in Zanzibar are a testament to the potential that exists within Africa’s youth. The harsh reality is that every month, a minimum of 300 women in Lagos state are subjected to abuse, molestation, and rape, often at the hands of those they trust the most. When such heinous acts are reported, the Lagos State Government swiftly intervenes, first by relocating the women to a shelter to ensure their safety. From there, SME100Africa steps in to give these survivors a fresh start, equipping them with new skills that empower them to rebuild their lives with renewed confidence and purpose.

This project holds a special place in my heart, not only because I have six sisters but because I firmly believe that women are investment multipliers. When we invest in a woman, we are investing in the entire society. Women have the power to transform families, communities, and even nations, and it is our responsibility to support and uplift them, especially in their darkest moments.

Through this partnership, SME100Africa and AXA Mansard are not only providing much-needed capital to female founders but also equipping them with essential financial literacy skills. This dual approach ensures that these entrepreneurs are not just recipients of funds but are also empowered to make informed financial decisions, manage their businesses effectively, and achieve long-term success.

I had the privilege of being invited to sit on a panel during this event, where I listened to a group of inspiring female entrepreneurs pitch their business ideas. It was a deeply rewarding experience to witness firsthand the creativity, resilience, and innovation these women bring to the table.
